House Transformation Part 2

Ok....I know I've been slacking.  I blame exams!!
Anyway, time for part two...

So from the back entrance lets head upstairs.  The second floor is basically the kids floor.
The stairway up.

The room at the top of the stairs

Same room, looking back towards the stairs
The looooong hallway
One of two fairly disgusting bathrooms in the house.
What is the deal with the toilet??  Why does it have a lift kit??  These are questions I will always wonder about.

Strange storage cupboard in the corner across from the toilet.  The corner of the one triangle shaped cupboard was making a hole in the ceiling...awesome!
There is something about having a bath in someone elses tub that always grosses me out a bit....yuck!!  Plus the door would bang into the shower door.
The next four are what will be Jaedyn's room.  Don't you love the panelling and wallpaper borders??  Ugh...it was everywhere up there!!

Let the demo begin!!

First to go was the bathroom.
We gutted it!!!!

And made a mess everywhere else.

The rest of the rooms just had the carpet pulled out and the panelling and wallpaper removed.

And after clean up, time to put it all back together.  I think this is the point that I was starting to get frustrated, because there are not as many pictures at this point :)

Love, love, love the floor!!  Soooooo much better than the gross carpet that was there!

Do you think you can quess Jaedyn's favourite colour???  lol...

And the final results!!!  Still a bit of decorating to do, but good for now!!

First off, the room at the top of the stairs has become the kids hangout with a TV mounted on the wall and all their video games.  They seem to love it.

The hallway looks better, but still needs some art or something along that long wall.

Kids bathroom.  So much brighter!!  And I love not fighting with them for the bathroom in the morning ... mind you they still fight over it, but not my problem...lol...;)

And finally, Jaedyn's pink paradise!!!

Next tour....Devon and Rya's bedrooms.
And hopefully it will not take as long to get the next one up.  Exams are almost done, so I won't have that excuse for long :)

House Transformation Part 1

Ok....so I cleaned the house all day, and only managed to get half done!!!  Uuuggghh....the downfall of a bigger house.

So as promised here is the first reveal.

I thought we'd start at the back door...

So this was the view as you came in through the back door.  Long hallway with two closets on the left and a shelf at the end.  There is also patio doors on the left before the closets.  Stairs at the end head up to the second floor and door on the right leads to the kitchen.
From the other end of the hall by the stairs looking to the back door.
I was soooo excited about all the storage...definately need doors though.
Weird shelf at the end of the hall beside the closets. (and some garbage, and a busted window screen...awesome!!)

Took down all the panelling and and found this lovely yellow drywall with a million holes in it.
Busted out the shelf at the end of the hall.  After a lot of deliberation, decided to put the laundry in this area.

...demo, demo, demo.... now time to re-build.
Busted out one of the closets and famed in a doorway to seperate the laundry area.  I was kinda bummed about losing storage space, but at the same time happy that I didn't have to lug all the laundry down to the basement all the time.
By the way, notice the piece of scrap wallpaper tacked to the doorframe???
Bahahahahah....seriously, who did we have working on this place with us?!?!?!

Doorway framed in and drywalled.  Mudding and taping and patching has begun....and seemed to go on forever!!

Where the closet used to be...and where the laundry will be.
And then, apparently I was too busy to take pictures for awhile cause suddenly it's almost done!
Still needs a door on the closet and a door to the laundry...and of course some trim!
Laundry (don't mind the mess ... it's a well used room)

And finally, it's finished...

So that's the entry, back hall and laundry.  Do you love it so far??  I know I sure do.

Stay tuned for the next reveal.....

House Update

So the big house remodel is finally done...well mostly.  As done as it going to get for now anyway.  There is still some little stuff to do here and there, and some outside stuff that will have to wait till spring.  Anyways, been living in it since october and definately loving it!!  So much more room!!!  And the kids love having their own rooms (now if only I could get them to keep them clean!)

So here's the plan.  I will try to show you the before, during, and after of each space, one room at a time.  Be patient though, exams are coming up so I don't have alot of time right now.  Plus, the house is a pigsty right now (I've been working on exams all week).  So, if I get this place cleaned up tomorrow, I will start the reveal.

In the meantime, here is a look at the outside of the house when I first bought it.  I have lots of plans for it, but ran out of time in the fall.  Hopefully it will all be done this year!!

House from the road.  Kinda looks a little like an old haunted house, doesn't it??  The two big windows in the front will be the master bedroom.  Kinda weird, I know, but it all makes sense to me.  The two front windows upstairs are Rya's room.

House from the driveway side.  Big window is the living room, smaller window is the kitchen.  Upstairs is Devon's window.  Jaedyn's is on the other side of the house.

Same side of house showing deck and upper shed.  Love that tree, but it was FULL of bees this summer!!
Upper and lower shed.  (Door is around back of lower shed)

Another one of the back, showing patio doors.  Can't wait to get rid of that upper shed. The deck continues underneath.  The two windows are the landing upstairs.  Need to do something about that ramp before someone falls through.

View from the deck.  The deck itself is in pretty good shape.  Just need to replace a few boards and repaint.

Another view from the deck.  The lots around us are all empty.  Working on buying them all!!

So still alot of work to do out there, but the inside is much farther along.  Stay tuned to see the transformation......

Back to Reality

Good lord....where has the time gone.  Especially these past two weeks. :(  Back to reality tomorrow....uuugghhh.  I had soooo many plans for these two weeks.  Stuff that I wanted to get done around here, projects that I wanted to work on, stuff to get done for work... the list was endless.  And of course, I got very little of it done...lol...what else is new.
The holidays were kinda different this year.  The kids were gone to North Bay from the 17th until the 26th and didn't get back here till the 28th.  I hate the year's they are at their dad's.  Christmas just isn't the same without them.  I can only answer the "don't you miss them" question so many times before I want to scream!!!  So I decided to skip it all together this year.  Left town early christmas morning for Duluth.  Figured I might as well finish the kids christmas shopping on boxing day...lol...Found some good deals and spent waaaay to much money ;)  Oh well, it was fun.  Had christmas with the kids on the 28th, Eric's family gift exchange the same night and Eric's birthday dinner on the 29th.  After a day off, we had a family New Year's party.  The kids had a blast and it was nice to have a fairly low key celebration with some great friends.
And now it's back to reality.  Looks like I am working for a few more weeks at least.  Can't wait for this LTO to be over so that I can get my life back.  While I definately like the steady paycheque, I hate the way that it seems to consume my entire life. It doesn't help that I have never taught the same class twice!!
Definately need to make some more me time in the coming weeks.  Will keep you posted on how it goes;))

SNOW!!

So I am sitting here at 1:30am watching the snow fall ... and wondering why am I still up???
